Sunshine Blogger Award

This blog post is a little different.  It's unplanned and not my regular, biblically-based writing.  I'm happy to announce I'm a Sunshine Blogger Award nominee.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is a peer recognition for bloggers across all genres who inspire "positivity and joy."  While there is no formal evaluation or vetting process, and no tangible prize, I am truly honored to receive this award because it comes directly from a fellow blogger who also puts pen to a page and appreciates the value of every post and every word.  So, much thanks to you, Tim Kiser of The Profit Dare, for nominating me.

This is a good time to send appreciation to everyone in my blogging community.  We have developed a wonderful sense of community and mutual support and I appreciate you all.  There will be times I don't acknowledge a kind favor, but it's not because I don't care.  It's just too easy to miss things that file into my online activity stream.  Please accept my apologies and gratitude if ever I miss your kindness.

Now, a few things I need to document for the Sunshine Blogger Award

Sunshine Blogger Award rules:
  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

My answers to the 11 questions Tim asked me:
  1. What state has been your favorite to visit and why?  Gonna have to say Hawaii because it's beautiful, I enjoy the outdoors even when it rains, the locals are gentle in spirit, ...and that's where the dinosaurs are!
  2. If you were a baseball player in the World Series, what would be your walk up song?  Well, I'm not into baseball, but if I were skating onto the ice in the Stanley Cup Finals, I guess it would be "Grace Wins" by Matthew West.  (Hey, I know!  It's not a walk-up song, but check out the lyrics.  I would be underwhelming, but look out, because God will win my battle.)
  3. If you could speak a new language which would you choose?  Definitely biblical Greek, and fluently so I can understand all the nuances.
  4. You’ve just won a new car (any type, any cost). Which make & model do you choose?  I'm not into glitz or cars, but the BMW Z3 that James Bond drove in Golden Eye did raise my brow.
  5. You are stranded on a desert island and can only have one book (not the bible and no e-Reader). What’s your choice?  Wow.  You stumped me.  But I am waiting for my pastor to finish his book on spiritual warfare.  Can I take that one when it's ready?
  6. You must select one decade of music to listen to for the rest of your life. Which decade?  Tough choice between 50's and 60's, but I'll go with 60's.  This is old school oldies, not like the era they call oldies today.
  7. You’ve been awarded a one year Sabbatical with a catch. You must move somewhere at least 1,000 miles from your new location during this year. Where do you move, temporarily?  For a year, I wouldn't mind trying Niagara Falls (the city, not the Falls!).  Seemed like a nice place when we drove through several years ago.
  8. Dog, Cat, Goat, or Chicken for a pet?  Of the 4, dog.  But my pet of choice:  turtle/tortoise.  Cool pets and you can leave them for a week without worrying about them (if they have an outdoor habitat).
  9. One band or musician past or present that you have not seen in concert that you would like to see live.  Natalie Grant.  I saw her in a music festival but I'm gonna say that doesn't qualify as a concert and I'm game for a full length show.
  10. What city has the best food and why: New Orleans, New York, Chicago, or San Francisco  I am a poor judge here.  I'm not a foodie and, though I've been to each of these places, I haven't eaten enough of each one's cuisine to make a recommendation.  So, no comment.
  11. If a new blogger asked what Plugin is the most helpful, which would you choose (only one)?  Have to say no comment again.  I have not been in the game long enough to evaluate.  But I do use Mailchimp for my email subscriptions and notifications.

My nominees:
The questions for my nominees:
  1. If you were given a totally free day where the minutes were never to be counted and time actually wouldn't elapse, what would you do?
  2. Which of your own blog posts is your favorite and why?  Please provide the link.
  3. With whom, what, or where did you shoot your strangest selfie?
  4. What was your biggest hurdle to overcome before you began writing?
  5. What celebrity do you famously impersonate?
  6. What characteristic of God is most special to you?
  7. What was your favorite extra-curricular activity during your K-12 days?
  8. Assuming you attend a local church, what do you like most about it?
  9. Besides writing, and your "day job" (if you it's not writing), what is your favorite regular activity?
  10. With what Christian notable outside of your personal circles would you most like to have lunch?
  11. What is your favorite reality or lifestyle TV show?

Thank you readers and bloggers for your continued support.  You are all awesome!
