Trusting God When Plans Take a Turn
(A Baby Delivery Story)

Image
Some of us parents probably had ideas about how our baby’s birth would play out, especially moms. Or you might be looking forward to that day when you hold your firstborn in your arms, ready for a perfect entrance into the world. I’m honored to introduce you to Laura, a friend who had her own thoughts on her first birthing experience. Maybe it’s much like yours, or maybe it’s quite different. Either way, things didn’t go as planned…   Here is an interview with Laura about her delivery story with her husband Stephen (not me).   Hi Laura. Thank you for doing this interview with me and sharing your story on my blog. This is truly a pleasure for me and I’m excited to hear your story. Let’s first set the stage. Tell us about your birthing plans and how your pregnancy went before your precious baby came. Just before our 4th wedding anniversary in spring 2024, Stephen and I learned we were expecting our first baby, due in December, and we were overjoyed—praise God! My pregnanc...

I Had COVID-19

COVID-19 hit us like a giant brick. Its presence changed the world. It disrupted our lives. Many of us were hit hard. How can our everyday normal be so overturned by something we can’t even see!? It’s my pleasure to introduce Alynda Long. She is an Energizer bunny …and a writer, blogger, editor, wife, homeschool mother, grandmother, graduate student, and, most importantly, Christ-follower. She endured a month-long battle against COVID-19, and she had never experienced a viral infection like this one. COVID-19 is a beast! But Alynda ‘kept on going’ as well as she could and she maintained a productive faith in God who is greater than this virus and in full control. I was encouraged by her story of victory as she suffered through the invasion of COVID-19 in her body and her household. It’s God’s story of victory, really, through Alynda’s faith, and I want to share it with you. Here is an interview with Alynda about her experience. Hi Alynda. Thank you for agreeing to tak...

Jesus Died on the Cross. It Matters.

Image
I recently heard about heretical teaching from an evangelical pulpit. The preacher taught that Jesus didn’t really die on the cross. He declared that God took Jesus’ place on the cross at the moment of death. So, God the Son didn’t die. God died instead, for Jesus and God are one in the same. Or so it was preached. My dad listened from the pews in unwelcome surprise. In horror, really, because all hope and life hangs on the fact that God’s Son died on the cross to satisfy the penalty of sin – to satisfy His Father’s righteousness. Jesus asked His Father if there was any other way to pay the penalty of sin, but He submitted to His Father’s plan. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 I was as shocked as my dad as he shared about this errancy. We both listed biblical truths that depend on the fact that Jesus, Himself, was crucified on that fateful cross....
